Frequently Asked Questions
What is your staff to child ratio? We have mandated minimums for our staff to child ratio as
dictated by the State of New Hampshire, however we strive
to maintain better standards. Each room has a minimum of
two providers. Owners do not count directly toward ratios
and therefore are available to manage overflow or a particularly
stressful room. In the event of an unexpected absence, substitutes
will be used.
What are the qualifications of your staff and how
are they hired?
Our staffing is broken into three tiers. Lead Providers
hold a degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
Extensive experience within a prequalified center may also
be considered. Assistant providers hold credits in child
development / ECE courses or are currently pursuing degrees
in an accredited college program. General providers are usually
just beginning a career in ECE/Daycare and are pursuing Early
Childhood as a major in college. Substitutes are used in
an emergency situation and are shadowed by a regular staff
member. Staff is interviewed by all owners. Criminal Background
checks and references are conducted by the Director. As with
our clients, we have a built in 14 day evaluation period
in which owners or new employees can terminate their contract
within a specific time frame.
How often does the State evaluate your center?
The State of New Hampshire is welcome to visit our center
at any time. They are mandated to visit and evaluate our
center at least once a year. The State will often visit our
center unannounced and will list any and all non critical
and critical violations. Clients are welcome to review our
State files at any time.
Do you have a list of references?
We encourage all of our parents and staff to be open and
honest about our center. Potential clients may receive a
list of names of clients who are willing to discuss the quality
of our care. We will offer the number of the potential client
to the referring client. We do not consult with our referring
parents to avoid skewing the reference. It is as important
to us that both negative and positive information be made
available to potential clients.
What foods do you serve?
We offer a variety of foods for the children to enjoy. Unless
you specify, we will let the children try new items as they
show interest. Breakfast may include varieties of cereal,
fruit, pancakes, waffles, sausage, breakfast bars, yogurt
or any other regular breakfast type food. Lunches are prepared
on site and vary from week to week. We purchase our most
of our groceries at local market. Menu items are prepared
to the age of the child (ie halved grapes) to avoid any choking
hazards.
